Frequently Asked Questions

What is 'Natural Sort'?

Natural sorting treats numbers inside text as actual values. Standard sorting sees '10' as coming before '2' (because '1' < '2'). Natural sorting correctly orders them as '1, 2, 10'. This is essential for numbered lists.

Can I randomize the order of words inside a line?

Yes! Enable the 'Randomize Words' option to shuffle the words within each line independently, while keeping the lines themselves in your chosen order.

How does 'Reverse Text' work?

The 'Reverse Text' feature flips every character in the line like a mirror. 'Apple' becomes 'elppA'. This is useful for encryption puzzles or data obfuscation.

Can I remove duplicates while sorting?

Yes, simply check the 'Remove Duplicates' box. The tool will automatically delete any repeated lines before presenting your sorted list.

Does this tool work with large files?

Absolutely. Since it runs in your browser, it can process thousands of lines instantly without needing to upload anything to a server.

Can I ignore punctuation while sorting?

Yes, enabling 'Ignore Punctuation' will sort words based purely on their letters. This means 'Apple' and '.Apple' will be treated as the same word for sorting purposes.

How do I sort by line length?

Select 'By Length' in the 'Primary Sort' controls. You can then choose 'Shortest First' or 'Longest First' using the direction buttons.

Is my data secure?

100% Secure. We do not store or see your data. All processing happens locally on your device.

Can I undo a shuffle?

Since shuffle is random, you cannot 'undo' it to get the exact previous random state, but you can always re-sort the list alphabetically to restore order.

Does case sensitivity affect sorting?

Yes. If 'Case Sensitive' is unchecked (default), 'apple' and 'Apple' are treated as equal. If checked, 'Apple' (uppercase) will usually come before 'apple' (lowercase) depending on standard ASCII rules.
