Frequently Asked Questions

What numbering formats does 'Smart Detection' handle?

Smart Detection is designed to catch the most common list formats automatically. It removes standard numbers (1., 2.), parenthesized numbers (1), (1)), bracketed numbers ([1]), and numbers with colons (1:).

Can I remove Roman Numerals?

Yes! Switch to the 'Roman Numerals' mode to automatically detect and strip prefixes like I., II., IV., or lower case versions like i., ii., iv.

Does it work with lettered lists like a., b., c.?

Absolutely. Use the 'Letters (A-Z)' mode to remove alphabetic prefixes. It handles uppercase (A., B.) and lowercase (a., b.) formats, including parentheses.

Can I define my own pattern?

Yes, for advanced users, the 'Custom Regex' mode allows you to write your own regular expression to target specific prefixes that standard modes might miss.

What is 'Fixed Length' removal?

This mode lets you blindly remove the first 'N' characters from every line. It's perfect for fixed-width log files where timestamps or IDs always take up the same space.

Does it remove numbers inside the sentence?

No. By default, our patterns are anchored to the start of the line (using the ^ anchor). This ensures that numbers mentioned within your text content are preserved.

Can I upload a file?

Yes, you can upload text files (.txt), logs (.log), or CSVs directly. The tool will process the file line-by-line instantly.

Is my data secure?

Yes. All processing is performed locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your text is never sent to any server.

Can I download the cleaned text?

Yes, simply click the 'Save' button in the result column to download your cleaned text as a .txt file.

What happens to the whitespace?

By default, the 'Trim Whitespace' option is checked, which removes any leading space left over after removing the number. You can uncheck it if you want to preserve indentation.
