Frequently Asked Questions

How do I create a printable puzzle from my photo?

Simply upload your photo, select the 'Jigsaw' shape, and adjust the rows/columns to your desired difficulty. Once satisfied with the preview, click 'Download Print Sheet'. This will generate a high-resolution image with the cut lines overlaid, which you can print on heavy paper or cardstock and cut out manually.

Can I use the puzzle pieces for game development?

Yes! The 'Download Assets (ZIP)' feature is designed specifically for developers. It slices your image into individual transparent PNG files for each puzzle piece. These are perfectly cropped and centered, making them ready to drop into engines like Unity, Godot, or web-based game frameworks.

Why are my hexagon pieces slightly stretched?

To ensure perfect tiling without any gaps or overlapping lines, our engine uses a 'Stretched Hexagon' algorithm. This subtly adjusts the width and height of the hexagons based on your specific grid dimensions and image aspect ratio, guaranteeing a seamless honeycomb pattern every time.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. Puzzle Maker Studio runs entirely in your browser using HTML5 Canvas technology. Your personal photos never leave your device, ensuring 100% privacy and security.

What is the maximum puzzle size?

You can create grids up to 50x50, resulting in 2,500 individual pieces. However, for best performance and print quality, we recommend sticking to reasonable sizes like 10x10 or 20x20 depending on your image resolution.

Different between Grid and Jigsaw modes?

Grid mode creates simple square or rectangular tiles, perfect for sliding tile games or Instagram grids. Jigsaw mode generates complex pieces with interlocking 'tabs' and 'blanks' using randomized Bezier curves, mimicking a traditional physical puzzle.

Can I hide the cut lines?

Yes, you can toggle the 'Show Cut Lines' options. Hiding them allows you to preview the final image, while showing them provides a guide for cutting physical puzzles.

Is there a watermark?

No. We believe in providing clean, professional tools. Your exported images and puzzle pieces are completely free of watermarks.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes, the tool is fully responsive and works on smartphones and tablets. However, for managing large ZIP downloads or complex grids, a desktop experience might be more comfortable.

What image formats are supported?

We support all standard web image formats including JPG, PNG, WebP, and GIF. The tool automatically handles resizing and aspect ratio calculations for you.
