Take Control of Your Grades
The "Weighted Grade" system can be confusing. You might fail three homework assignments but ace the Midterm and still have a passing grade. The Grade Calculator demystifies the syllabus math, letting you know exactly where you stand and where you can afford to lose points.
Common Letter Grade Scale
| Letter Grade | Percentage |
|---|---|
| A | 93 - 100% |
| A- | 90 - 92% |

Frequently Asked Questions
How do weighted grades work?
In a weighted system, categories are worth a specific percentage (e.g., Tests 50%, Homework 20%). Your grade is NOT just the average of points; it is the sum of (Category Score × Category Weight).
How do I calculate what I need on the final?
Our tool does this automatically! Once you enter your current grades and their weights, it looks at the remaining weight (e.g., the 30% Final) and calculates exactly what score you need to reach your target (like an A or B).
What if my total weight is not 100%?
If your weights add up to less than 100%, our calculator shows your "Current Grade" based only on the work you have done so far. This gives you an accurate picture of your standing before the semester ends.
Can I calculate unweighted grades?
Yes! If your class uses a simple points system (e.g., total points earned / total points possible), you can just enter the points as the "Grade" and set the weight to "1" or leave it blank/equal for all.
What is a passing grade?
Typically, a C (70-79%) or D (60-69%) is considered passing for undergraduate courses, but many majors require a C or better in core classes. Graduate programs often require a B (80-89%) to pass.
