Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Pro Layout Tool?
The Pro Layout Tool is a free, browser-based 2D CAD application for creating floor plans, room layouts, and technical drawings. It features professional tools like snapping, measurements, a furniture library, and symbol placement - all without any downloads or installations.
How do I zoom and pan the canvas?
Use your mouse scroll wheel to zoom in and out. Hold the middle mouse button (scroll wheel click) and drag to pan the canvas. You can also use keyboard shortcuts for quick navigation.
Can I use real-world measurements?
Yes! The tool supports multiple units including meters, centimeters, millimeters, feet, and inches. All measurements are displayed in your chosen unit, and you can set precision from 0 to 3 decimal places.
How does the snapping system work?
Smart snapping helps you draw precisely by automatically aligning your cursor to grid points, shape vertices, midpoints, edges, and centers. You can enable/disable different snap modes and adjust the snap tolerance in the Snap Settings panel.
Can I import an existing floor plan image?
Yes! Use the Reference Image feature to upload an existing floor plan or sketch. You can adjust its opacity, position, scale, and lock it in place while you trace over it with the drawing tools.
What furniture and symbols are included?
The furniture library includes beds (single to king size), sofas, tables, chairs, kitchen appliances, and bathroom fixtures. The symbol library includes north arrows, door swings, electrical outlets, light switches, windows, and more.
How do I export my floor plan?
You can print your layout directly from the tool using the Print button, or download it as a PNG image. The print function opens a clean popup window with just your drawing.
Can I undo my changes?
Yes! Use Ctrl+Z to undo and Ctrl+Y (or Ctrl+Shift+Z) to redo. The tool maintains a complete history of your actions so you can step back through any changes.
What are fillet and chamfer tools?
Fillet rounds the corners of a shape with a specified radius, while chamfer cuts a straight angled corner. These are professional CAD tools for refining your drawings.
Is my data saved anywhere?
Currently, all drawing data stays in your browser session and is not uploaded to any server. If you close or refresh the tab, unsaved work will be lost. Use the export features to save your work.
